Also this topic has a lot of formulae and I would recommend you to learn all the formulae and also some important non-trivial results that are used frequently. Also, since there are a lot of formulae, there use can only be learnt by practising a lot of problems. The problems asked in JEE of this topic can be solved easily by manipulating terms using some basic formulae.
This topic consists of
- Trigonometric Ratios and Identities
- Trigonometric Equations
- Solution Of Triangles
- Inverse Trigonometry
From whole Trigonometry, you can expect 3-5 questions to come in the exam making it the least-asked topic in Maths hence you should not spend excessive time to this topic. You should only practice until you feel that you are able to apply the formulae and can manipulate them. To test whether your preparation is sufficient or not, you can solve problems from the archive.
THEORY AND PROBLEM BOOKS
- The best book for Trigonometry is of Amit M Agarwal. It first illustrates the concept and then poses problems on that concept. This book is designed for beginners who want to excel in the topic. It has a lot of solved examples to guide you through the various techniques of manipulation of terms used frequently in trigonometry. If you feel weak in this topic then you should go for it, I am sure you would benefit a lot from it. (Highly Recommended)
ARCHIVE
- Previous Year's Papers of JEE Advanced are a gem. It would also help you to know where you stand and what type of questions are generally asked in the exam and whether your preparation is enough or not. This book is with solutions and appropriate for both JEE Main and Advanced. (Highly Recommended)
GENERAL MATHS BOOKS
The below-mentioned books are books of maths having Trigonometry covered in a decent manner.
- Vikas Gupta and Pankaj Joshi is the best book for REVISION purposes. (Highly Recommended)
This book is best for revision purpose, The most important part of JEE preparation is revision of the concepts you have already learnt. For this purpose you need a book which has around 50 good questions from each chapter and the problems should cover almost all the important concepts. Hence this book is ideal for this purpose.
- A Das Gupta is an old Classic book. It mainly has problems from each chapter of mathematics some of which have been excluded from the current syllabus. Many of the problems are solved illustrating the ideas used to solve problems. It also contains chapter-wise tests so that you know your level of preparation in that chapter. (Recommended)
Is SL LONEY'S trignometry not sufficient?
ReplyDeletePlease dont ask questions asking if this is sufficient or not . It totally depends upon your level of understanding of topic .
DeleteUsually solving a Book + Package helps you a lot
In class 11 I have to buy only SL LONEY part 1 ..Huh?
ReplyDeleteHow much importance should be given to solutions of triangle?
ReplyDeleteSolution of triangle is not so important topic for advance and usually there is an easy question every alternate year .
DeleteBut if you are aiming for a good rank every topic in JEE is important
